Admissions
How to apply for a place at Isiqalo Primary School, Grade R to Grade 8.
Admission steps
- 1
Enquiry
Phone, WhatsApp or use the enquiry form. Collect or download the application pack and fee schedule, and tour the school.
- 2
Application
Complete the application form and return it with the documents listed below.
- 3
Readiness meeting
A friendly meeting or short activity with you and your child. It helps us place your child in the right grade and plan support. It is not a pass-or-fail test.
- 4
Decision
You receive a written decision from the Principal: an offer of a place, a waiting-list position, or a reasoned decline.
- 5
Acceptance
Accept by signing the enrolment agreement and paying the R750 registration fee by the date on the offer letter.
- 6
Admission
Your child is entered in the admission register, given a class, and welcomed with an orientation.
Documents we ask for
- A certified copy of your child's birth certificate (or proof that you applied to Home Affairs).
- Certified copies of the parents' or guardians' identity documents, and proof of address.
- Your child's clinic card or immunisation record (Road to Health booklet), and any relevant medical information.
- For Grade 1 to 8: the latest school report and, where applicable, a transfer letter from the previous school.
- Any assessment reports or learning-support recommendations.
- Emergency contact details and the names of the people allowed to collect your child.
Who may apply
- Grade R: your child turns five on or before 30 June of the year of admission.
- Grade 1: your child turns six on or before 30 June of the year of admission.
- Grades 2 to 8: placement follows your child's last completed grade.
- Children with disabilities or learning barriers are welcome to apply. If we cannot meet a need, the Principal will explain honestly and help you find other options.
How places are offered
When there are more applicants than places, we offer places in this order: learners already at the school moving up a grade; brothers and sisters of current learners; children of staff; children living closest to the school; then everyone else in the order complete applications were received. Race, religion, language, disability or a family's ability to pay are never used to choose between applicants.
Costs
Registration: R750, once, for every grade.
Monthly fees: from R700 to R950.
